Selected work
Micol Buti — a digital portfolio for a 3D paper illustrator
A bespoke WordPress portfolio designed to give Micol Buti’s three-dimensional paper illustrations room to lead. Selected work, creative process and professional profile come together in a focused, responsive experience.
01
Context
Micol Buti is a freelance illustrator based in Italy who creates three-dimensional paper sets for editorial, advertising and personal projects. The website brings together his work, expertise and creative process in a professional space for publishers, studios and prospective clients.
02
Problem
The artwork spans different formats, subjects and applications. It needed to be presented without diminishing its visual impact, while making it easy for visitors to explore the portfolio, learn about the illustrator and understand how to start a collaboration.
03
Role
I handled the website’s design and WordPress development, including its information architecture, interface, responsive behaviour, organisation of the work, individual project pages and configuration of SEO and privacy tools.
04
Constraints
The artwork needed to remain centre stage and retain its clarity across different screen sizes. Navigation had to stay simple, while the content structure needed to support new projects and categories without requiring the website to be redesigned.
05
Decisions
I chose a clean, gallery-led visual direction with generous spacing and a restrained hierarchy, allowing the illustrations to command attention. The portfolio is organised by category, with a dedicated page for each project. The About and Process sections complete the journey by presenting Micol’s identity, expertise and working method.
06
Implementation
The website was built on WordPress with a content structure dedicated to managing portfolio projects. The implementation includes a filterable work archive, individual project pages with image galleries, responsive navigation, links to the downloadable PDF portfolio and Instagram, SEO metadata and privacy preference management.
07
Verified outcome
The result is a live, maintainable portfolio that brings together Micol’s work, profile and creative process in a coherent journey. Visitors can browse projects by category, explore individual pieces and easily find the illustrator’s contact details.
